INCiTiS-FOOD is a four-year initiative designed to enhance food and nutritional security and lower the environmental footprint of food systems in African urban areas. The project co-creates circular agri-food technologies and business models, including hydroponics, recirculating aquaculture systems, and insect farming, across eight Living Labs in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, and Gabon. It also outlines plans to support between 800 and over 1,000 start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises through a cascade funding mechanism to inform urban food policy roadmaps.
