Document Abstract

A financing and upgrading strategy for the oyster value chain in Senegal is outlined under the FISH4ACP initiative to address constraints faced by producers and processors. It analyzes the supply and demand for financial services, highlighting challenges such as the absence of dedicated public policies, a lack of guarantees, and high perceived risks among financial institutions. The proposed intervention recommends partnering with decentralized financial systems and public support funds to deliver investment loans, working capital, insurance, and capacity-building programs, with a particular focus on women's groups in mangrove regions.
