An analysis of Senegal's oyster value chain examines the providers of financial and insurance services across harvesting, processing, and commercialization activities. The study reviews the legal and regulatory framework, the participation of banks, microfinance institutions, and insurers, as well as state support mechanisms for the fisheries sector. It also identifies structural constraints faced by value chain participants, who are predominantly women, including inadequate collateral, dependence on informal tontines, and a lack of tailored credit and insurance products.
